Thanks to each of you that attended the class or helped teach or administer
the exam session.
I am happy to report that of the ten class members taking the test all
passed and three passed the general class exam as well. The three members
unable to attend should be taking the exam shortly and I expect that they
too will join us on the air soon. Let me know when you have taken the exam
to get the $15 I am holding for that purpose.
Upcoming exams in the area are:

I noted at the informal after-exam celebration at Mike's Grill that the
meteorology students' knowledge and enthusiasm for weather rubbed off on the
others so the natural learning dynamic was exhibited in the group.
Many of you wanted to build the *portable j-pole antennas* to extend the
range and battery life of your handheld radios. I have all the parts now
and we need to pick a date if you want to do it as part of a group. If you
want to participate, please reply to me with some dates and times and I wil
start a separate mail list of antenna builders. If you want to do it on
your own you can get the parts and instructions from me as well, or source
your own stuff. These are the instructions I liked best. ignore the 'don't
use foam twinlead' instruction, it works find and is about all I could find.

Thanks for making this a great class, and be sure to email me with your call
letters when you get them.
Need help getting on the air? Ask, and club members will likely be able to
assist you in making that happen.
