[Novice-Rigs] EICO 717 Electronic Keyer POST SCRIPT!

Hi Again All,

As fate would have it (or is Murphy...?!), I neglected to remind
trouble-shooters of the EICO 717 electronic keyer of this VERY important
singular fact, i.e.

DO NOT USE THE INTERNAL AUDIO OSCILLATOR WHEN MAKING ANY OF YOUR KEYING
ASSESSMENTS AND TESTING!!!

You MUST monitor your progress through the ACTUAL KEYED TERMINALS at the
back of the 717, i.e. the ones that are activated by the reed switch. This
can be your CW transmitter connected to a dummy load, or a separate external
audio oscillator---whatever.

The internal audio oscillator is NOT keyed by the 717's reed switch, and so
can not be trusted to guage your progress...

Apologies for my having omitted this important detail in my earlier
posting...and a request to any & all EICO 717 owners who may try the
afforementioned  "fixes" on their own units, for details as to their
effectiveness in your own situation ...!
