Just a reminder about the upcoming AWA's 1929 Bruce Kelly QSO Party. Its
time again to dust off those old 29 style chirpers, or build one, and put
'em on the air! For two weekends it is 1929 again and the bands are full of
chirpy, whoopy, growling, buzzing, swishing, worbling peanut whistle cw
signals.
It is held on two weekends in December. December 2-3 December 9-10.
Starts 2300Z Saturday night and ends 2300Z Sunday night.
Transmitters: must be 1929 or earlier types of self oscillators, such as
the Hartley, TNT, PP, TGTP tuned grid tuned plate, MOPA, etc.
Suggested frequencies: 3550 Kcs to 3580 Kcs on 80 meters, 7030 Kcs to 7050
Kcs on 40 meters.
Exchange: RST, Name, State or QTH, type of transmitter (TNT, MOPA, TGTP,
etc), transmitter year (27, 28, 29 etc), and power.
Power: 10 watts or less INPUT from 2300Z to 0500Z. Power may be increased
to 20 watts INPUT from 0500Z (Midnight EST) to 1300Z (8 AM EST) to help make
E-W contacts.
This will be the third 1929 QSO Party I've worked. The first one I used my
1927 MOPA, a 27 Hartley driving a pair of 27's in parallel, whopping big 5
watts output, and made 18 QSO's on 80 meters. Last year I used the MOPA on
80 and a Hartley (single type 10) on 40, and I made 18 QSO's on 80 and 10
QSO's on 40. It was wonderful to listen to all the chirpy wobbly signals!!
