Good Day All,
Well, the 2005 edition of the AWA 1929 QSO Party was another fine & fun time here...many thanks to all who "endured" the signal from the 1923 "Rollins Rocket"...
The rig achieved all of the goals that I originally laid out for it: first & foremost, it was a Colpitts (tip-of-the-hat to John Rollins W1FPZ), it was push-pull (a first for me), it's power input could be readily adjusted to accommodate the added flexibility of the "after midnight" rule, and it quickly (and easily) covered BOTH bands in use (one at a time, of course!).
The final tally was 51 QSOs.
Most noted observation: 90% of the signals heard have really "...cleaned up their act" in terms of signal quality. More guys used MOPAs this year, than ever before, probably to ensure relatively trouble-free operation 'way up in the stellar regions of 7-MHz.
It's all wonderful, but I came to miss a lot of the "...character & personality"-type signals from previous years!
