Thanks Mark and everyone for the information.  Its great to know that the 50.008 beacon will carry forward in remembrances of K0GUV.   When I get a chance I'll update the beacon list on our clubs website.

Jon, I think I can shed some light on this.

I met his son Matt at Dayton this year - he was in the Midwest 6 Meter Strong Signal Team swap spot.  When I told him I had met his father many years ago and offered my condolences and told him we would be neighbors soon he gave me his QSL card. (See photo).  Matt’s call is K0KKO and his contact info and his family’s story is on his QRZ page.

Hello NLRS land

I learned just the other day that K0GUV is a SK as of October 2025.  Ed was not a club member but he did operate a 6m beacon from northern Minnesota on 50.008 for many many years.  You can find his obit at

Which brings me to the question at hand.  I believe that his 50.008 beacon is still running.  Does anyone have any connections with his family that could inform them that the beacon is still on but should be either turned off or perhaps switched to a different active call sign?
