Gents, I have some less-than-good news this morning - as we are frantically winning all the trade wars, and the Chinese, to their own fault, restricted export of rare earth minerals, there are some small bumps in prices of RF devices that are widely used... A favorite MRF300 used in small amps has slightly increased its price from $59 a few months ago to the gentle $410. This means 300W amplifier will go from $599 to $999 at minimum - copper and aluminum, plus other parts went up as well. Makes no sense to make the 500W version, as it would be easily over $2000. For the 6m/1kw, MRF1K50 went up less than $200 to $250 recently to now enjoyable $1171. That means, 6m 1kw will be roughly $2500 instead of $1500. Repair is the price of a new amplifier before this jump. For 23cm, the widely used MRF13750 is up from $200 to $1008, alongside Arlon 350, which is about 4x more expensive, copper, aluminum. That means, the original $1799 will be close to $3000. Altogether, I have small margins that are getting even smaller now, we are in for a big problem. Before you turn on the amplifier, check 10 times your antenna SWR, drive, and so on, the inflation, and especially in RF products, is reaching levels that even Venezuela can't match us.
