Hello NLRS club members.

This email serves as notification for a pending vote regarding two proposed changes to our clubs Bylaws.  That vote will happen at next years, 2026, NLRS business meeting.  This email is for notification purposes only.

The first proposed change deals with now we define a member in good standing and how, as a club, we maintain our clubs roster.  The proposed change is cut and pasted below where the crossed out text will be deleted and the red text added.

2. Membership

Membership (Full or Associate, described below) is granted to the applicant by filling out and submitting a membership form to the club’s secretary.:

Full membership - Full membership carries all club privileges as well as right to hold a club office and to vote for club officers. Full membership is open to licensed Amateurs.

Associate membership - Associate Membership includes all club privileges except for the right to hold office and vote for club officers. Associate Membership is open to those actively engaged in a class leading to an Amateur Radio license and all other interested persons.

A member shall be considered current and in good standing by being active in amateur radio contests, by attending club meetings and events, or be considered a contributor to club affairs by a club officer.   A member shall be considered current and in good standing by being an active participant in VHF+ amateur radio activities (such as VHF+ contesting, satellites, antenna design and building, radio experimentation, EME, or presenting/writing about VHF+ related topics, etc.), by attending club meetings and activities, or by being considered a contributor to club affairs by a club officer. Club officers together shall periodically review the membership roster to remove silent keys, those who have asked to be removed from the membership roster, and those demonstrating a lack of interest in participating in the club and its mission. Those removed from the roster may be reinstated by submitting a new club membership form.

The second proposed change deals with how we define a quorum.  As our club has regionally grown, now with over 140 members, meeting the "1/3 of current membership" requirement has become more and more difficult, hence making conducting formal club business more and more difficult.  The proposed change is cut and pasted below where the crossed out part is to be deleted and replaced with the red text.

4. Quorum
A quorum shall consist of one-third (1/3) of current members. A quorum shall consist of at least 15 current members present. Current members not present at a given meeting may convey written proxies to the Secretary regarding any votes to be taken at that meeting. Such proxies shall be considered as "current members present" for the purpose of a quorum.

You can find the current NLRS Constitution and Bylaws posted on our clubs website at https://www.nlrs.club/   .

Myself and fellow club officers will be at Aurora'25 if you wish to discuss.
