Hello everyone,

I am in need of a microwave fix, so I have given some thought to Jon's

plan for the SMBS and CSVHF microwave contests coming up on the 4th.

Weather permitting, i.e. not raining here and decent temps, I am

thinking about doing a local rove to work Jon and any locals on the air.

Also, Bill, AWU, and anyone else that I can out of the local area.

General plan is to start at EN34jv, a site on the north side of the

airport. This site has views from 90° to far south enough to just work

Kiester in EN33en. I am against trees and houses to the North and

airport buildings in other directions. Any local Q's would have to be

through the trees and houses or bounces off of something. There is a

water tower in Eagan, near W9FZ's old place the should work.

Second and third sites are either EN34is, Burnsville office park or

EN34gt, Eden Prairie airport (the access road into the south entrance,

not the now closed overlook site). As long as I'm not there all day I

should be OK at either site for a few hours. Not sure of the order.

Burnsville offers a chance to work Bill, AWU, the other sites do not.

Maybe even drive up to EN35 to run with Bill if I can remember the site.

It's somewhere overlooking the Roseville mall, near the site that Mel

uses to work Bill.

Only bands would be 10 G and 2304. Regular rig on 10 G. 2304 is 1 W to a

looper either 21 el or 45 el, depends on what I can get in the car.

I could bring two 24 G WBFM rigs for some short shots across the river

valleys. I think all three sites I mentioned can work the distance if

the other end can find a reasonably clear site.

Let me know if you are interested in playing on the higher bands.
