I know it's late, but I want to thank everyone who got on for the 10 G
weekends.
I did alright considering how much time I spent sitting, waiting/ trying
to get in touch with others. I also missed a number of chances to work
the Michigan and others on rain scatter because I didn't think about
checking the radar or calling them.
Rain scatter was a savior for me. I had 25 rain scatter Q's out of 180
total. Most of them were longer distance compared to the usual tropo
shots. I worked most of the Michigan ops in EN64 twice. I probably could
have worked them a couple of more times if I have been looking at the
radar.
It was foggy both days in the early morning. The result was only one Q
with Gary, GHZ and lots of waiting and beaconing while others got on the
air. I had a few other sites where Gary was the only Q. So, thanks Gary
for being available.
My results for the contest were: 50428 distance points. 28 Uniques. 180
Q's. Total score 53228. Longest Q 516 Km. Average distance 280.2 km.
I sent an email to the Michigan ops thanking them for the contacts. I
also asked if there was any interest in going back to Lake Superior next
August. For this far out, the level of interest was surprisingly high.
Most were ops who have been there before so they know what to expect.
There are four or more who have said they want to operate from each of
the usual locations, MN NS, Michigan Up and Marathon. If you are
interested please let me know and I will add you to the list. Nothing is
set in stone at this time, I am just assessing interest.
If you haven't done so, please send in your logs. The deadline is the 22 nd.
73, Gary WBØLJC
