The WX forecast has improved to the point I think its worth taking the risk. 10% chance
of thunderstorms before 7AM for Saturday morning. I've been over the ground and it
"should" be OK if it's only
wet. IF IT IS ACTUALLY RAINING after Breakfast, it'll be a scrub.
If you won't be at Breakfast, we'll try to get set up around 10:30 to 11:00 AM.
1) If you will ONLY measuring antenna GAIN, we need nothing but the antenna and feed. Of
course, we need access to the feed regardless if its just the antenna or on your system.
Usually, it'll be an SMA(f) connector, or an N(f) connector. Can also work with WR-90
flange. Unusual connectors, you'll need to provide your own adapter to one of these.
Its better to have the antenna on a tripod, etc., than trying to hand-hold it: i.e., your
system rather than just the antenna. At this point, the system will NOT be operated (and
preferred that it is not connected to power.)
2) If you will ALSO (or only) be doing the MDS testing you need your working (RX only)
system and DC power. This includes the i.f. radio. Headphones will help. Remember, this
will be RELATIVE MDS ONLY. Can't do -xxdBm measurements... only "yours is
(better/worse)" than the one next to you."
Are NOT set up to measure TX power... sorry.
Easiest access to Harvest Park from I-694 (or Breakfast) is White Bear Ave SOUTH to
County Rd 'C' westbound.
>From MN-36 take White Bear Ave NORTH to County Rd 'C' westbound.
At Hazelwood Ave (first stop sign) turn SOUTH and go to Barclay St
(~1/4 mi): turn RIGHT. We're planning on being along the south side of the parking lot,
but you have to go around to the right to get there.
See you there.
