'Morning, everyone.
We're a week away from the 10GHz test/tune-up session.
12 July, after the monthly Breakfast. Start time 11AM.
QTH as in Gary's original MSG, below. Easiest access from either I-694 or MN-36 is White
Bear Ave to County Rd 'C' westbound. At Hazelwood Ave turn SOUTH and go to Barclay St
(~1/4 mi): turn RIGHT. We're planning on being along the south side of the parking lot,
but you have to go around to the right to get there.
You may have noticed that we've settled into a WX pattern of rain on the weekends. If
this holds, much of what we'd like to do at the 10GHz session can't be done. (Requires
110 AC for the equipment.) Measuring antenna gain on damp ground doesn't require AC so
that (alone) can be done. Active rain, of course, scrubs that also. High wind also
scrubs the activity. (We want to test a few dishes that have blown over and been damaged.
Don't want to add good dishes to those!)
A number of folks from outside the Metro area would like to attend. Given the potential
for rain, I think that there will need to be a GO-NO decision on Thursday as to what, if
any, activities can be planned for Saturday.
1) Active rain mean NO GO for everything
2) Light, intermittent rain MIGHT allow antenna gain testing ONLY
3) Thursday and Friday rain is MOST LIKEY antenna gain ONLY, depending on when it quits
and the amount of rainfall
4) Friday day-time rain, ending before night MIGHT work... depends on how much rain.
Antenna gain may be possible.
5) Dry week or at least dry Thur/Friday AND low probability of rain on Saturday is most
likely a GO
I'll keep and eye on the WX and put out a forecast on Thursday... FINAL call, GOOG OR BAD,
will be mid-day Friday.
Keep your fingers crossed.
