I recall many QSOs with them over the years... Mel was always very gracious
and thankful when we were coordinating the high bands. I had the
opportunity to visit with him for quite a while at Central States last
summer, we discussed many things and he took me to his car and showed all
the little tidbits he had in his trunk as well as a laptop holder he put on
the steering wheel to do logging, he was pretty proud of the improvements he
was making to his mobile operations.
Yes we will miss him... Condolences to the family...

I got word last night that Mel, KC0P passed away in his sleep on March 30th.
Mel was a good long-time friend and loved ham radio. A ready supporter
of NLRS, he
was a consistent NLRS Monthly Breakfast attendee and usually had interesting
and informative presentations for Aurora meetings. As an avid VHF+
contester he operated Rover (along with Carol, N0HZO) in most of the
contests (including January in Minnesota!). He will be missed by NLRS and
VHF+ contesters in the upper mid-west.
There's talk of a radio garage sale (NO details) in Rochester "sometime" in
the future.
