[NLRS] IF to Xverter PTT keying

Electronics question for you...
The microphone key line on my IF radio has a 5v circuit attached. I am trying to have a ptt to ground when the mic switch is depressed. 
Can I use a small relay to take the input power and trip the non-powered ptt to ground keyline? I'm guessing yes, but would I need to add any other components to the relay input circuit too? AND what sort of small relay would work best?
Trying to remember my long unused electronics knowledge, and the brain is not cooperating.
