The January contest is coming up next weekend, and the weather looks to
warm a bit with little likelihood of snow. Is anyone planning to get
out and rove? Post your operating plans on the spreadsheet at:
http://tinyurl.com/JanVHF2024
The spotting page has been tested and is working, find it at:
https://www.w0uc.com/spots.html
Please review the instructions:
This page is for the use of stations in the Upper Midwest (MN WI IA ND
SD IL) and stations with current propagation to the Upper Midwest.
Self-spotting is encouraged in the ARRL contests! Fixed stations are
encouraged to spot Rovers at each move. Short chats are welcome -
please limit chats to current live activity. ARRL rules allow use of
chat to help two stations find each other (including peaking antennas),
but once the contact has commenced further coordination must be done via
Amateur Radio.
One new operator got a little carried away in September posting spots of
distant FT8 stations. Rest assured, everyone else who is on FT8 is
already aware of that - there is only one frequency after all! If
something special is happening, a simple announcement "6M FT8 open to
Timbuktu" will suffice.
