The contest is now distance based, the distance in km and thus the
points, are determined by the center-to-center distance between the six
digit grid squares. So, no, you shouldn't just guess where you are located.
If you know the sites where you will be operating you can find the six
digit (actually 10 digit) grid square by looking at the
https://k7fry.com/grid/ web site. Enter the four digit square and then
zoom in to the actual QTH.

As Mary said, there are many Grid Square apps for any modern cell phone
that has GPS built in.
