DsN=2024UHFRoverPlan KC0P/R & N0HZO/R Plan for 2024 222MHz & UP
I am making a significant plan to activate four grids near West Union,
IA on 222, 432, 902 & 1296 MHz this Saturday and Sunday. Locations are:
A) EN33wa 240th E/W & V56 N/S 43.008769 -92.154595
B) EN32wx US 18 & E. of V56 N/S 42.965170 -92.126177
C) EN42ht Chicken Ridge Lookout, 10 mi N. of Strawberry Point
42.804702 -91.415960
D) EN43ca Cty 150 & 270 St about 3 mi N. of West Union
43.023215 -91.826175
A) ,C) , and D) are new locations that I have selected by studying
Google Maps Street View, think they should be better than what I used
last year. B) was used last year, worked well, was a new grid on 902
for N9LB, and I got a QSL card. C) was recommended by Bruce W9FZ.
We got within 10 miles of it in Strawberry Point on the way home from
CSVHFS conference. Sherrif in SP said it was the highest point in
the county and their tower for dispatch was located there.
If you go to Google Maps and put in the indicated Latitude & Longitude,
it will display the spots I hope to use. If when I get there, it
is not that great, I can fall back to the spots I have used before.
If you put in for the corner 43.0 -92.0 it shows the corner to be
about 3 miles N. of US 18 and down in a hole next to a creek. Only
contact to be made from there is KG0VL at 15 miles !
I am open for skeds or Heads Up on my cell phone 612-804-4460. If I
don't answer right away, it will roll over to voicemail and leave
a message. I am probably struggling to copy CW from K0AWU at
300 miles, but We are willing to try with anybody.
