[NLRS] FYI: Minnesota W1AW/0 Update

 Most of you have probably seen this.  The W1AW/0 call sign is going to be available for op's in MN to operate with per a schedule starting Aug 2 through Aug 8.  I did a little bit of this last time it was here operating on 6m digital.  Read the forward from Bill, AE0EE, below, sign up, and put W1AW/0 on some of the VHF bands.  If you do so make sure you do some advertising too !

 We are just over a week away from the beginning of the W1AW/0 Minnesota
special event for the ARRL's Volunteers on the Air celebration, which
runs from August 2-8 UTC (7:00 PM CDT Tuesday 8/1 through 6:59 PM
Tuesday 8/8 CDT).  So far there are only a handful of band/mode/time
slots taken, with lots of great opportunities for you to get on the air
as W1AW/0.

To help answer your questions, we will be holding a series of Zoom
meetings this week to go over the sign-up process, some tips for
operating, and how to submit your ADIF file at the end.  Details for
those are below.

This event is a great opportunity for ARES members or those interested
in disaster preparedness to try some simplex communications.  ARES
groups are encouraged to reserve a time on voice (e.g. 2 m FM) that
overlaps with or immediately follows a weekly repeater net.  The W1AW/0
station can then work the others on simplex (must be simplex!), but may
coordinate contacts via the repeater.

Field Day style operations from parks or other locations around the
state are welcome, particularly if clubs work with newer members and
hams to help get them on the air and included as part of the special
event.

Technicians are welcome and encouraged to reserve slots within their
allocation and capability: we want all Minnesota hams to have
opportunities to contact W1AW/0 MN, be that on 440 MHz FM, 6 m FT8, or
10 m SSB.

When you have read the rules, understand the process, and are ready to
sign up, please go to https://ok.arrl.org/w1awmn to reserve your
slot(s).  Note that time slots in the sign-up are UTC, and local time in
MN is UTC-5.  All slots will start on an odd hour local.

This should be a fun event, and it would be great to have Minnesota
well-represented on the air.  It's great to see several clubs already
signed up for times and working with their members and guests to get on
the air.
