So is it 0830 or 0900?
I live in western Hennepin county. These meetings are a 70-mile round trip for me, one hour or more each way. This entails a $40-50 vehicle expense (per IRS guidelines), plus a commitment of basically an entire day, given my age and diminished endurance.
I would prefer that the meetings were pushed back, say to 1000 or, better, to a lunch time, and at a location that offered a private seating area. There are many of these.
Ideally, these meeting should change venues, to accommodate people who live in other parts of the cities and the state. One of my best ham friends who lives near me, a member, says he simply doesn't attend these meetings because of the distance.
I think there should always be an educational agenda. Inviting people to 'show and tell' is just fine, those are the best meetings, but often no one brings anything.
Management should put muscle on to assign a presentation, no matter how short or informal, on one or more members for every meeting.
I belong to quite a number of radio clubs, and I can say without qualification that the members of Northern Lights are by far the most sophisticated in their knowledge and in their practice interests. The club would profit by advertising the meetings with an emphasis on presentations and learning opportunities. And Show-and-Tell, which is often the best way to learn.
IMHO

... at the usual place: The Golden Corral Buffet, located at 3000 White Bear Ave, Maplewood, MN 55109. Its in a small strip mall on the east side of White Bear Ave in the SE corner of White Bear Ave and Woodlyn Ave.
(Woodlyn is a block south of County Rd 'D'.) The Golden Corral is a bit hard to see,
but the Aldi's Supermarket is very obvious... Golden Corral is right next door to the east.
We noticed last month that the Golden Corral is now opening at 0830 instead of 0900.
There was a comment that we should also go back to the 0830 "start time." I guess it wouldn't hurt to try but remember:
1) winter is starting, and an extra 1/2 hour to let the roads clear may make a difference for attendance, and
2) some of us have trouble getting there by 0900, let alone 0830 (and, yes, I'm one of
them)
Speaking of WX, the long range forecast for Saturday is ...unpleasant: Friday night low of 22°, high Saturday of 26°. 20% chance of snow, NW winds 10-15 mph. Yuck! (Well, it IS that time of the year.)
You are encouraged to bring 'show-n-tell' items:
current projects, history, etc. Maybe discussions will get better as the winter "workshop" sessions get better ?
Despite all that, I hope to see you on Saturday.
