This rule is a half-step in the right direction, at least the scores won't directly compete in the same class. But the rub is that there will still be huge percentages of 6m stations staring at their computer screens during an opening making for dry times on the traditional modes. I don't bother to set up a VHF station at Field Day due to the modern day SSB drought.
I understand the fence the ARRL is straddling here. New digital modes are getting more stations on so that is a positive overall, but its not like the olden days. I think I'm less likely to bother with building a VHF station now, 630m looks interesting though
