I was on the edge, heard a few very weak stations but zero contacts. I
noticed people north of me working into it so I am guessing I was in the
wrong spot for this opening. 2m E-skip can be a very narrow spot where sigs
are massive, out of the spot and nothing or super weak sigs...

Subject: [NLRS] 2m Es Summary
Hi All -
What a fun start to Sunday! I was going to operate some 40M CW and gave a
listen to 6M. The band was really short, so I headed over to 2M. I heard
the usual "rumble" that gave me the heads-up that 2M was going to open. I
can't explain what the "rumble" is but I think it sounds like several voices
just below the noise. It was present so I started to call.
I was rewarded with 2M Es from 1441 - 1737z. There were multiple Es clouds
and at times the MUF got pretty high. I wouldn't be surprised if someone
made some 222 MHz Es QSO's today. Signals were as loud as S9 + 20db, all
the way down to the noise.
Stations were worked in FL, GA, AL, MS, TN & KY. Grids worked were EL87 &
98, EM51, 53, 55, 56, 60, 63, 64, 70 & 71.
The station is an FT991, 400w brick & 12 element yagi at 25 feet. All human
decoding!
I hope others got in on the opening!
