It's been hot-but we've been preparing Janice's "Little Red Rover" for a
4-band outing this coming weekend. We will launch from the cabin in
Wisconsin and be at the Wausau Grid Corner for Saturday. On Sunday, we will
make appearances at our local hill-top at EN43tq in the morning and evening
for our 5th grid.
We'll be on the bottom four bands ABCD with Traditional modes like SSB and
CW. We are running an FT-857 and VJB beams. (Ok, a dipole on 6m.) We have
looked at the W0UC Upper Midwest planner page at:
https://tinyurl.com/JuneVHF2021 and have noted the contact info for the
fixed stations. We also note the other rovers that will be out like
KC0SKM/R and others. Because of what is on the Rover tab of the planner
sheet, we are picking 144.230 for our main CQ'ing frequency.
We ought to be visible on APRS.fi...but we are not chirping RF this time.
Instead, we will be chirping by cellphone as W9FZ-i. You should be able to
follow us at: https://aprs.fi/#!call=w%2F3102325873
<https://aprs.fi/#!call=w%2F3102325873&timerange=3600&tail=3600> . You can
call or text us at 651-491-1077. We will try to post on the spotter page,
but it helps us if the first person to work us in a new grid could make that
posting for us.
We really hope you'll come find us on SSB/CW. If you've worked us at these
locations easily in the past, it ought to work again. We are trying to be
"findable" by publishing a schedule (with a frequency) and by chirping APRS
to see our real-time position.
Our Schedule:
Saturday
EN44 1300 - 1430L (1800 - 1930Z)
EN54 1500 - 1700L (2000 - 2200Z)
EN55 1730 - 1930L (2230 - 0030Z)
EN45 2000 - 2200L (0100 - 0300Z)
Sunday
EN43 0900 - 1100L (1400 -1600Z)
EN43 1930 - 2130L (0030 - 0230Z)
We sure look forward to hearing your voice or fist and working you on the
VHF bands.
