The ARRL 222 MHz and Up Distance Contest will run from Saturday August 7 starting at 1800 UTC to Sunday August 8 ending at 1800 UTC. There are no grid multipliers for this contest. You earn 1 point per km then add up all your km points on each individual band. Once you have each band summed up there is a "band factor" that allows you to multiply your accumulated distance points on each band as follows: 222=2x, 432=1x, 902=4x, 1296=2x, 2.3=6x, 3.4=10x, 5.7=10x, 10=6x and all bands above 24=20x. After all of this, you sum up your points to arrive at a total score. Full rules at <http://www.arrl.org/222-mhz-and-up-distance-contest> . As this is a 24 hour contest its a fun event for a rove or portable operation. As a rover, you can rework other stations when you move to a new four digit grid, just like in the other ARRL contests. Last year the NLRS placed 3rd out of 9 clubs in the medium category Barring bad weather, W0ZQ/R plans to be out and about with 222 through 10 GHz. 73, Jon .
