This was on SSB.
We did it on SSB. We ran for an hour on Wednesday morning and also
Thursday morning. Wednesday was all SSB and we came close. Couldn't get a
signal report confirmed. Thursday was a half hour on SSB and a half hour
on CW. Again, close. I was sending S2 (old school signal report) and he
was sending 529 on CW. I heard "S2" but I think the "S" was part of the
5. Since we didn't copy the right items, we determined it wasn't
complete. Today was easy with a good rock!
We are definitely in a good area and, with a combination of tropo, Es,
meteors and aurora, you can work all 48. I've got my 12 element yagi at 20
feet so I do not have a big station. I hope others will give SSB/CW a
try. You can do it and it sure is satisfying to complete, and hear the
other station say "Roger, Roger 73 73!"
