FYI, two important ways to get attention on VHF+ bands. Use the ON4KST Chat site, especially 144/432 Region 2, and Ping Jockey, if you are planning on doing any MSK144 meteor scatter work. Made 4 QSOs on 6m this morning off of the meteor tails.
I will announce ‘CQ FT8 to southeast’ when I begin CQing on 2 meters, because for me many stations are 300 to 400 miles away, and I need to get them to turn their beams toward me at that moment if I am to be heard. Will be exactly the same for you to get attention, Edward.
You can also use to initiate SSB QSO possibilities.
Have fun. We rarely hear guys from the MN and western WI areas. I am in Appleton, WI and usually one of the most western stations that often operates in the early morning on 6, 2, 125cm & 70cm. (Can also operate 902 & 1296 from home.)
