2020 VHF contest time.... and living in townhome (EN33sx) with HOA....of course I got on the VHF contest..  My antennas  2M: 2M Squalo mounted atop a pole lamp on the ground floor, 6M I use a MFJ969 and load the home HVAC system.  I ran 5 watts on 2m and 4 watts on 6m.  I operated FT8 only, and had FUN (that's what counts!)
Having an outside elevated antenna would have made this contest much easier and not so challenging. Yes, the crowded 6m FT8 band was very interesting.  Running PSKReporter on another monitor, set for 15 minutes, it was easy to see who was copying me,  and to watch the opening move around, (when using an omni-directional antenna.)
One problem I saw was that WSJT-x FT8 decodes were coming so fast on the crowded 6m band, that my fairly new computer could NOT decode the volume of  signals.    It looks like it decodes the weak stations first until some buffer is full then ignores the strong signals - this means strong signals were not decoding every decode cycle.     This became a problem for me, as I was picking loud stations to work - because of my super antenna/power.
BTW I still have a portable 432 Amp (single 4CX250B and all power supplies and relays in the box) FOR SALE.  Contact me directly if interested.
