Comments: I was not intending to put much effort into this contest other then to putz around and to work our local rovers. 6m is not my favorite band, nor is digital, but for one weekend in June my opinion was changed. Just 200 watts and a pair of horizontal loops netted a 6m VUCC+ in one weekend. One advantage of horizontal loops is that you can work in all directions which may be an advantage when the band is open that way. The down side is that I surrender ~ 10 plus dBs to "the other guy". It is amazing how many guys are running high power and big antennas on 6m these days. About half of my Q's on 6m were digital, maybe 2/3 of those of FT4. The other half of my 6m Q's were a mix of SSB and CW. On FT4, at times it reminded me of a HF RTTY contest with good rates and plenty of action. FT4 certainly seems more that twice as fast as FT8, maybe because of the ability to turn to another Q so fast. After running FT4, FT8 seems like a slow boat to China. I even worked our NLRS exile to Boston, Glen, KC0RYT, on 6m FT4. As always, a big tip of the hat to the rovers; W0ZF/R, K0BBC/R, N0SPN/R, and family rovers KC0P & N0HZO/R, and W9FZ & KA9VVQ/R. Bruce and Janice had good signals on all bands, especially 902 where we worked SSB from each stop.
