Hello NLRS land
Although its cold, dark, and more snow is on the way, we can look forward to two VHF+ radio conference this Spring and Summer.  Our Aurora conference will be held on Saturday, April 25, at our usual location in White Bear Lake, MN and just a few months later the Central States VHF Society conference is coming to La Crosse, WI, July 24/25.   Given this, this is a great time to think about presenting on a topic at Aurora, and or presenting and/or writing a paper for Central States .... its a two for one event !
Regarding Aurora, we have two presentations already slated.  The first presentation will be by Mike Cizek, W0VTT, on his recent experiences as a part of the VP6R (Pitcain Is) DXpedition.  Mike and team managed 36 6m EME QSO's.  The title of his presentation is "VP6R, Rookies on the Moon".    Plan on learning a little bit about what its like to go on a DXpedition and how to operate on 6m EME.
Our second planned presentation will be by myself, W0ZQ, on how to add a Transverter Store transveter internally to a Radio Shack HTX-100 (or equivalent) to convert the HTX-100 to 6, 2, 222, or 432 (the transverter band of your choosing).  This can be an easy and very low cost way to get on anyone of these bands.
We continue to look for additional presentations for Aurora.  Presentations can be 10 to 30 minutes in length and we look for a blend of topics to keep all interested, so any topic that embraces VHF+ is in scope.   Aurora offers a low stress, fun environment, to share your knowledge and experience with other like minded op's.
If you have a topic that you would like to present, or if you have a lead on someone who has an interesting topic, please drop me a note.
73, JonW0ZQ
