go back to digits 0 through 9 so you are dividing the 2.5 minutes (1/24 of
a degree) of longitude or 5 minutes (1/24 of TWO degrees) of latitude by 10.

Then for 9th & 10th characters, it's back to letters, dividing by 24 for
letters a through w.

You can keep going, alternating between letters and numbers, as far as you
care to, but at some point, adjoining blades of grass can have different
locators when you get down to sub-sub-sub-sub-sub-grids. If I recall
correctly, 12 characters was about the size of an office cubicle, about 8'
x 6'

EIGHT characters is usually enough for antenna aiming and TEN characters
gets you to about 80' x 60'.

There is also the k7fry.com/grid web tool that will allow you to SEE the
borders of Grids with 2, 4, 6, 8 or 10 characters overlaid on a Google Map.
This web tool will ALSO allow you to display the PATH between two locators,
with distance and bearing if you put in a 2nd locator (always click the
"Show" button). (Same as what Mike, W0VTT suggested ; - )

EN52xc56hu.
