This chain of email is from a new ham. He would appreciate any help
that you can give him.

Clare,
Thanks for your thoughts and time and suggestions. Yes, re-post away,
and I will dial up NLRS! As to your question about my Google handle
'Climbing Without Passion,' there's a long answer, and then a longer
one! Maybe a subject for a future QSO on 220. . . .
Super thanks,
Chad

I have a strong suggestion that you join Northern Lights Radio
Society. They have regular meetings
and activities and an awesome email reflector.
nlrs at mailman.qth.net <mailto:nlrs at mailman.qth.net> is the refector
address and they have a website. Dues are $5/year but they will
welcome you whether you are paid up or not.
Now to the question you ask. I use a Down East Microwave Inc.
DEMI transverter that converts 10M to 222MHz. It works well and
supports any mode that the 10M rigs supports. My HF rig is a Flex
5000 A (not manufactured anymore) which has HF circuitry but all of
the modulation is performed in a Windows PC. I have a 3 element
yagi on my short tower and I have a 10 element yagi not yet on the
tower. The tricky thing about VHF, UHF and above is that the
antenna should have lots of gain and therefore to make contacts you
need to point the antenna correctly. VHF is trickier than HF and
requires skill and patience.
So I would talk to my buddies at NLRS. Will you allow me to
re-post this email?
