I have dusted off an old DEM 1296 transverter (KK7B style board) and
verified its operation in anticipation of this coming Saturday's microwave
sprint. Unfortunately I can't get on until early afternoon, as I need to
take my youngest daughter to a shooting event in the morning.
This transverter does 3 watts out and I'll be using a WA5VJB "cheap yagi".
Height above ground won't be great, but my QTH is good. I measured the Rx
path gain today and it's 16.5 dB, so not the hottest receiver; I have no
clue what the noise figure is, but probably not great either. Will likely
put an LNA in front of it at some point, but not before the contest since I
think it'd be good to get a baseline first.
I think there are several of you close enough to EN43oq (Westby, WI) that
we could probably make this work.
73,
David W9HQ
