For APRS maps, I expect you mean this site?
APRS is not a weak signal mode so it doesn't give the best propagation
forecast, but it is active 24x7x365 and has thousands of "beacon"
locations across the country. This web site "mines" the aprs.fi web
server to find capture reports longer than certain distance limits.
The closer you zoom the map, the shorter the captures it will
highlight.

The fastest way to show your local area is to click the magnifying
glass and enter your 4 digit grid square and it will focus the map on
that region. Then you can zoom back out as far as you want to see
activity. As I write this at 5AM, the map is still showing captures
within the last 15 minutes from Minnesota to Kentucky, and Kansas City
to Chicago and Eau Claire. It is a big red blob of 2M activity. As you
zoom in, it extends well beyond those borders as shorter capture
reports are added. I don't know of any other resource that provides as
complete a real-time indication of 2M activity.

For 6M activity I still like the PSKreporter web site best since it
uses live reports from any digital software that is left running to
monitor a frequency. These days that mostly means FT8 stations, but
PSKreporer takes automatic reports from all other modes & software
that offers them. As I write this I can see more stations being added
to the map with activity building all along the east half of the
country as the sun rises. There are even a few stations on 2M FT8 and
reporting activity from New Jersey into Wisconsin and Illinois.
