This didn't make it to NLRS from the original postings. Sorry. Its updated slightly
regarding date.

Early Tuesday morning, I had a call from a ham in SLC wanting to talk about the KX3 I was
offering to sell him. He had gotten a bit uncomfortable with some inconsistencies he
spotted it the email exchanges and want to confirm things before he sent money via PayPal.

The real problem was that I WASN'T THE PERSON offering the KX3 to him !

"Radio Guy <gettingcontected at gmail.com>" was the email address being used, and he
questioned the misspelling. Also, the asking price for a very complete KX3 was far below
the actual value and (therefore) the price it would be worth. When he asked for the real
name of the seller, he was given MY INFORMATION "cut-n-pasted" from the FCC database.
"RadioGuy" STOLE my identity ! (It's obviously a cut-n-paste because of some differences
in the way the government records my name and the way I actually use it. Different enough
that anyone who knows me knows the difference.)

Now, I DO have a KX3, but it's not configured the way "RadioGuy" described: my serial
number is some 7,000 numbers higher than the one listed, and its oriented to HF operation
(I do almost NO HF operating). It also described a large complement of 3rd-party add-ons
that mine does not have.

The spoofing has been reported to the web site where the original "Wanted" listing was
posted, but there is little or nothing that they can do about it. Fortunately, no money
changed hands so, at the moment at least, no one has been successfully scammed. I'm
posting this little "story" to try and warn others that: 1) there's a would-be scam artist
out there, and 2) It wasn't me offering to sell a "cheap" KX3 !
