UPDATE
I-694 will be closed between Victoria and Rice streets, both directions, over the weekend.
If you use I-694 eastbound to get to White Bear Ave.,  they'll detour you via I-35W to 
MN36, east to I-35E north back to I-694.
(West bound is the same route, in reverse.)

You could stay on MN36 Eastbound to White Bear Ave and go north on White Bear to the 
Golden Corral.  Its marginally shorter, but slower.  I'm close to MN36 to start with, so 
I'll go MN36 all the way to White Bear and then north.
