Last night I was finally able to get out and test the new rover setup with
a little testing on Ft8 as well. Ft8 seems to make the long hual qsos much
easier then cw or ssb. Worked N4qwz at 475ish miles in a minute and after
cqing a while also made another random qso over 400 miles. Both would
normally be very tough under flat conditions under cw or ssb.
Now on the the rover plans for the 2m sprint. I'm planning to hit en32,
en31, En42, and en41 I think in that order. I'll try to divide my time
equally between the four grids but may move on quicker then an hour each
depending on activity. I plan to start out on ssb from each grid on
144.185 or .200 if I can't get any response off the calling freq which
seems to be the case lately. After calling on ssb for a while I will
switch to Ft8 on 144.174.
I'll try to monitor ping jockey and the on4kst chat but as usual the best
way to get my attention is via text to 319-721-0072. Calling working to but
it's hard to talk on phone and radio same time especially when signals are
weak.
Any and all contacts are much appreciated and hope to see everyone in the
sprint.
