A couple interesting items from the SBMS meeting...

A miniature GPS locked frequency reference was mentioned. It runs
anywhere from 400Hz to 810MHz output for around $100. Use it directly
or with a multiplier as a transverter LO.

One presentation was about the new QO-100 geosynchronous satellite
over Africa. It provides communications over all of Europe and Africa,
and from Brazil to Thailand. One example dish antenna was shown that
combined a 2.4GHz patch antenna for uplink and a 10GHz horn for
downlink. Looks pretty simple to build..... But we have to wait for an
N/SAmerica's version.
