This was one of the very few times we both had the same number of contacts. We run and gun so we can lose contact while following a curving road, but this time we both wound up with 56 QSOs on the bottom four bands.

The switching device for our DEMI 222 XVRTR managed to release some of that white smoke inserted at the factory Friday evening, so the Transverter Store backup was put into use. It did a fine job. The only drawback was that it’s lower output only drove the amp to about 140 Watts. I don’t think that made any difference.

We had a similar problem on 902 with the switching device. We were at our first stop when we found that we could hear just fine on 902 but the transverter would not switch into the transmit mode. Fortunately, we had a spare at home and were not too far away.

It was fun working 902 and 1296, although we weren’t always able to complete. The lower bands were good and strong for the most part and we enjoyed working other rovers as well as the regional big guns.

Our score turned out to be 9880 each, for the BC’ers cause. See you in September.

73,

Tim and Pat
