Jon covered the first day in Nebraska very well. We did get some rain
scatter to the south rover group from Basset, NE SAturday afternoon. We
stayed together unto lunch time Sunday. Then while Jon and Charlie
headed south, Arlis, Holly, and I headed north from Valentine to a spot
they had picked out and worked Radar Hill. Going east on gravel we
happend upon a perfect spot with a few hundred feet fall off in the
first 3 miles looking south and worked the southern rovers as they were
planning to drive more than make contacts early in the afternoon. We
never heard from Jon and Charlie all afternoon. We worked the hill a
couple times, then set up to work the hill a third time and found the
hill abandoned. We went on east a bit and I went south and Arlis and
Holly headed north and then east. We worked each other twice as we
split. They went home and I overnighted in O'Neil NE and then headed
east on US20 for home.

Our first spot Saturday morning was about 8 miles north of one suggested
by Gary and was located Friday by Jon. EN02HH IIRC. It was beautiful.
Looking north to NW it was down hill over a valley a couple hundred feet
deep and 5 miles or so across. Looking NE to east is was down hill over
a valley a bit too far away to see how deep but the next ridge was 10 or
15 miles away, far enough it was gray. Same thing South, while SE to
Missouri stations it was nearly flat for a while then a deep wide
valley. Better than Buck Hill because of greater height and more
directions without moving the operating position.

Gary described the NE Iowa rove accurately below.

I haven't figured my score yet, I missed some contacts, mostly KFC last
weekend at times, just too weak to copy on SSB. When I went to CW I
copied Jim. I did get through the 9 pages of logs to enter all the
distances but I haven't decided how I'm going to propare a log for
submission, either paper by hand, or by computer, or a simple spread
sheet. About 215 Q's for the two weekends. I submitted a log for the
Iowa QSO party from last Saturday for 14 Q's in two states. QRP portable
class, might be the only entry in that class.

I'm in Sioux City tonight for an Iowa hamfest state convention in the
morning.
