Here in west central Wisconsin we had some decent Es openings on 6M this
past weekend, but not as good as the southern part of the state and
farther south apparently experienced. Certainly nothing sustained for
hours on end. Actually I'd call it almost kinda weird at times.
And unfortunately the gremlins were at work on my station again. I
thought everything was working, but my 2M RX seemed to be subpar again
once the contest started, so I had to resort to my FT-736 running
barefoot. without the kilowatt on the band it sure is hard to get
people's attention. And 900 MHz had problems again, although I
confirmed it's not the transverter and most likely not the preamp
either, but I had no RX. 3456 RX still is not working either.
On the bright side 222 & 432 seem to be work the best they've ever
worked and I made a couple contacts on 2304 with good RX and TX
signals. And overall the microwave bands that were working seemed to
work very well with my Flex-1500 for a change.
The highlights for me were working ZF1EJ and HI8RD Sunday afternoon on 6M.
I ended up spending most of my time on 6M as the results indicate.
