I will be roving in the June VHF contest. You guys are unlikely to work me on any bands but 6M. We often have Es to the midwest during June contests, and I have good 6M capability, so if the bands open this way, look for me. You can track me on APRS.fi and I will also have my cell on, (505) 228-5491, so text me if necessary.
I will have 6M, 2M, 222MHz, and 432MHz. 100W to a Moxon on 6M, 100W to a W7QQ 8ft Yagi on 2M, 100W to a W7QQ 8ft Yagi on 222, and 50W (the legal limit) to a W7QQ 8ft Yagi on 432.
To avoid hogging the calling frequency, I will try to operate on 50.155 and 144.210 when the band is open, or when QSYing. I don’t suspect that there will be problems with crowding on the calling frequency on 222 and 432.
Here is my tentative schedule:
Saturday June 10
I will start near the Moriarty Convergence:
1800Z DM64xx Moriarty Airport
DM75ba Eastbound rest stop on I40
DM74bx Torrance County Landfill
DM65uc New spot on Sedillo Hill, it should be better to the N and E than my driveway and quieter than 41 N of Moriarty
Time at each stop will depend on activity, but I will put in an at least an hour at each stop. If activity is high, I will try to put in more.
On Sunday, June 12, I am going to hit a couple of new spots; will start in DM54:
1400Z DM54xr This is a new spot, chosen due to its proximity to the grid edge
1530Z DM64bw While DM64 is a repeat from yesterday, this spot should have much better paths north, south, and west, while still being OK to the east
1715Z DM55xh This is the tried and true location in DM55 that we have used often
1930Z DM56vb
2300Z DM66am Angel Peak, good paths north
0215Z DM65ob Nine Mile Hill to work Albuquerque I missed the day before if time gets short, this may be skipped
I will try to closely adhere to this schedule as I am covering a lot of territory without a driver and hence I cannot dally. At least in theory.
Listen for the weak ones. - Duffey KK6MC/r
