Hello NLRS land,
The largest annual gathering of weak-signal VHF'ers in the Upper Midwest, Aurora'17, will be held on Saturday, April 22 at the First Lutheran Church located at 4000 Linden Street in White Bear Lake, MN. I believe that this is the 34th annual conference.
We are currently looking for presentations for the technical program. This is an excellent opportunity for you to share with your fellow VHF+ operators your recent learning, ongoing projects, operating experiences, and future VHF+ plans. Topics include antenna design/testing, propagation, building, roving, regulatory (briefly!), and other weak signal VHF+ topic that are of interest to you. Perhaps someone can talk about their experiences with the new MSK WSJT mode. EME on a budget is always interesting. Mechanical designs for big dishes? How to feed a small dish? Any 6m dxpeditions planned? Anyone working on a Fred Fish award? Would someone like to talk about the recent low-cost transverters that are available? How about IF rigs; are there any alternatives out there these days with SDR or ?. How to frequency lock and recent low cost solutions? You don't have to be writing a PhD thesis, short presentations are welcomed.
If you are interested in presenting at Aurora please drop me a note to discuss. Let me know what your topic and how much time you may need to present. If there is a particular topic that you would like to see someone talk about, let me know.
73, Jon
