Saturday afternoon only, about 6.5 hours.
Bill (AE0EE/R) and I went out as a two-rover "pack" (Team UHF Da!),
circling the grid corner at EN24/EN25/EN35/EN34. The majority of our
contacts were with each other, as we made nearly every combination of 4
grids on 3 bands (222/432/1296). Obviously, this gets a lot of Qs but not
a lot of points, since the distances are short.
I did have a handful of QSOs with W0UC including at least one on each band,
which greatly helped in the distance points department (thanks Paul!). We
also made a heroic effort on CW with K0AWU- sigs started out good, but
completely tanked before he was able to copy my grid. Thanks for hanging in
there with me Bill, and sorry I had to pull the plug before we could try
again later.
Overall, a good shakedown for the new (to me) 1296 transverter and my
rebuilt rover equipment rack. A fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
Will definitely try some different operating strategies next time to boost
the distance scores.
50 total contacts,claimed score 1,666 (according to N3FJP calculations,
anyhow)
