Subject: [NLRS] 222 & Up Distance Contest next weekend

Sorry I haven't had time to do any promotion on this sooner, but I do
plan to be on next weekend for the first edition of the new contest. I
have the usual activity spreadsheet set up, you can find it at:

Remember that we are exchanging 6-character grid squares now. For most
of us this isn't a problem, but for the casual operator who might happen
by it likely will be a problem. If they are at their licensed address,
the detail page on QRZ.com should give the correct grid. If they are
somewhere else, good luck...

As for logging, after an inquiry from Bart I realized that the only real
requirement is that your logging program includes the 6-character grid
in outputting the Cabrillo file. I use Win-Test which is out of Europe,
and they are not adding the new contest. So the program will not be able
to compute my score, but it will produce the proper Cabrillo file. I
will just set up using the old UHF contest, submit the Cabrillo file,
and the score will be computed when the log is checked. Easy!

The big cold front is coming through Thursday, so perhaps the weather
will recover to produce something like average conditions by the
weekend. Please post your operating plans. Hope to work many of you!
