David,
THAT is why you should have attended the Central States Conference this
year, in Rochester, MN. Attendees got a preview of the changes AT the
conference. It was my understanding that one of items mentioned most often
in the responses that folks submitted to the VCR/RevSub committee was "do
not change it from August" (and largely for the reasons that Jerry cited in
his post).
All,
One item that I noticed in these 'final' rules...a shortening of the log
submission window to just FOURTEEN days (see 10.2). While I applaud and
support the idea of shortening log submission windows (CQ has shortened
their windows to FIVE days for THEIR major HF Contests), with this being a
NEW contest format, possibly requiring 'new' versions of logging software
and 'learning curves' for same, I question whether THIS is the right
contest to implement a shortening of the log submission window (and have
already expressed this concern and some others to Kermit, W9XA, now my
Division Director and I think he's still the chair of the RevSub/VCR
committee).
73, JK
