In case anyone is interested in some portable operation the weekend of June
4-5, check out "Light Up The Trail," which will take place in conjunction with
National Parks On The Air. They are looking for stations interested in
operating from the North Country Scenic Trail. More information can be found
at:

This trail goes from New York to North Dakota, and there will be operators in
all of those states. More are needed in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and North
Dakota. I plan on operating a few hours from Jay Cooke State Park. This
event requires portable and not mobile operation, but it doesn't necessarily
require any strenuous hiking. I'll be operating from a picnic table near the
parking lot, and the trail even passes through some Duluth city parks. In
fact, if commercial power happens to be available, there's no reason why you
can't use it.
This is mostly an HF event, but there's no reason why it can't be done on VHF
or UHF. If you have any questions, see the link above, or feel free to ask
me.
TNX & 73,
Rick W0IS
