Subject: [NLRS] 222 Beacon

Good morning gang,I am in full construction mode on a 222 beacon to go on Hawknest Ridge which is about 18 miles SSE of me in EN07II. The site is about 600ft HAAT and beacon will be a QRP Labs U3S driving a DEMI 35W amp to a dual horizontal loop antenna. Initial output will be a CW id sent twice in one minute, JT65 the second minute. Hans, the designer of the U3S is attempting to get FSK441 running on it. Eventually I hope to morph to 60 seconds of CW with the first 30 seconds of so consisting of variable strength continuous CW followed by CW ID and the second 30 seconds being FSK441 followed by 30 seconds for the amp to cool down. JT65 terrestrial is mostly useless on 6 – 220 because of meteor pings so will be left out. The U3S is also capable of Whisper so that could be added to the mix. I have looked over the exiting 220 beacons in the area and in the country. Within the beacon sub band it looks like 222.054 is a good choice as the only other listed beacon is in California and there are no local beacons on that frequency or within the about 2khz that FSK will take. Any comments on this choice or any of the rest of this are hugely welcome.73 de Bill ND0B______________________________________________________________NLRS mailing listHome: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/nlrsHelp: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htmPost: mailto:NLRS at mailman.qth.netThis list hosted by: http://www.qsl.netPlease help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
