Hi, Allan & all...SOTA lists 33 summits in Minnesota. I hope you
activate sometime.
Now for details, you'll want to visit SOTAWatch at http://www.sotawatch.org/
Then click on the Summits link at the top, and for Minnesota, scroll
down until you get to K0M which is your SOTA Association for all of
Minnesota. You are divided into three regions. I didn't see Oberg
Mountain by name. Maybe you'll recognize it by number. To qualify as a
summit, it needs to have sufficient prominence above the general
surrounding terrain.
For HF spotting, I'd suggest you use the iPhone SOTA Goat app. This is
useful for HF postings, and often you'll have chasers jump right to your
frequency looking for you.
You might visit the Rigs section of my ham web site and scroll to the
bottom to see a few pix of my SOTA operations, particularly my recent
entry into the SOTA VHF, UHF and microwave world.
So I am still looking for anyone who would like to schedule a DX
attempt...I realize it is a workday for some. I am learning that
mornings are better to enhance tropo-scatter propagation
possibilities...and maybe I can only reach western WI or eastern MN from
the lookout tower at Rib Mountain in Wausau.
Good luck, Allan!
73,
Larry WB9KMW
