Hey gang, last year NLRS managed 20 entries for the January VHF, up from
15 the year before. Can we make it to 25 this time? Back in 1999 we
had ...37... (WOW!), so it is certainly possible. Entries are an
important way to show interest and support for our aspect of the hobby,
and getting a log in has never been easier, so please make an effort to
get on and send in an entry!

There is some good activity planned for this weekend. Check the
spreadsheet to see who will be out and about for the contest:

Bruce and Janice will be around the 33/34/43/44 corner on Saturday, as
will Mel & Carol. Bruce & Janice will move down to the 42/43/52/53
corner on Sunday. Wyatt will make an epic run starting in NW Ohio, and
then back more in our neighborhood on Sunday, hitting an incredible 17
grids.

Everyone is invited to use the regional spotting page that my son built
for us at:

http://www.w0uc.com/spots.html

Fixed stations can enter spotting info right there, and rovers can also
access it by SMS text to 612-440-SPOT (612-440-7768). Yes, you are
welcome to spot yourself! For a fixed station out in the boondocks,
announce where you are calling CQ and I can guarantee you will get
answers! We will also announce when rovers hit new grids (though all
those folks listed above are very good at keeping to schedule!) Do make
use of the new rules, the intent is to increase activity and make the
contest more fun for everyone.

If you can only get on for a bit, use the spotting page to let us know
when you are on, and you will get more answers! (Post a frequency away
from 144.200, and you will find that people are watching, and are not
crystal controlled!) Also, remember to check the FM channels and give
some encouragement to the folks there.
