The metal is as hazardous as the ceramic.
Years ago I was in the cities the day before Aurora and visiting museums
and shopping various stores like axman and radio city. I stopped at a
cafe I think on north Snelling and took in my own bread. I sat down at a
table in the middle and and old timer sitting in a booth suggested I
join him because I looked interesting. We swapped tales, turned out he
was a retired engineer who had worked for a WW2 maker of gyro aircraft
instruments and they were machined from beryllium metal. He admitted
they had to take lots of precautions to keep from killing the
machinists. Later he worked for a maker of power transistors. I don't
remember his name.
