[NLRS] demi 1296 transverter

If its set up for an external antenna relay, it wouldn't be hard to add
a PGA-103+ preamp and a MMIC power amp often using the RA18H1213G module
to get to be a serious station. Both show up on epay regularly. I've
worked lots of DX on 1296 with good openings and 3 watts in past
decades. Need to get back on that band, need to put up a tower first.

The control board can be adjusted to use as little as a few milliwatts
on transmit. Heating the transverter dummy load with lots if IF power
makes the LO drift, probably not nearly as much as the DEMI 10 GHz
transverters can move from that heat. The typical internal IF
termination can dissipate 10 or 15 watts though the drive control
section can't quite keep the mixer from be over driven. Not quite enough
attenuation. One other option the seller hasn't mentioned is whether the
IF is separated or set up for a transceiver. At one time there were
separate boxes for that from DEMI and last week one of those was on
QTH.com also.

The control board and the vintage LO boards documents may be hidden at
DEMI. If you can't find them I have them in my computer files because
they are used in my 10 GHz transverter and the 1296 transverter board
was documented in QST and I think several of the VHF conference
proceedings back when it was new.

One other source is boards from W1GHZ who has parts for a 1296
transverter, quite low power though.
