Hi David, sorry to hear that you got skunked, ouch ! If W0UC was hearing
Interntional Falls, Paul should have been able to hear you at St. Charles.
Which location were you using for EN33 ? The high ground at O'Meara Rd,
junction of Winona 35 & 37
or up Crystal Springs road Winona 37 , closer to the Corner ?
We should have three rover vehicals for 432 Fall Sprint, so if the rain
prevents
good DX, at least we can dance with each other. I don't carry a weak signal
source for 222, so I never know if I am receiving until I work the first
one.
Good Luck next time.

I got to the St. Charles grid convergence last night in perfect time to get
everything in place. Started CQing right at 7:00 pm from EN33 as planned
and heard nothing. I CQed for a while, turning the antenna and still
nothing.
I began to suspect that I had some hardware problem. I checked all the
antenna connections and everything seemed fine. The transverter was
showing power output on its display. But I was not hearing increased
background noise when cycling power to the 'verter. So I figured something
was wrong. About 7:30 I packed it up, checked out the rest of the grids at
that convergence for another day, and headed for home.
Oh well, I tried.
Seems like interest in this sprint was pretty low. But it sounded like
there was more interest for the 432 sprint next week. I'm planning on being
on that air from the home QTH for that one -- hope there are still some
rovers going out.
73,
David W9HQ, non-rover again
